Roasted Garlic Oil

Making your own oils is really fun!

I made this with left over roasted garlic and it is beautiful!

I made garlic bread with it the next day!

Equipment;

Oven safe dish/tray

Air tight container

Knife

Chopping board

Ingredients;

1 whole garlic bulb - or more if doing a whole tray

100ml olive oil per bulb

Thyme or rosemary

Turn your oven to 180C and fill your tray or dish with the amount of oil you are going to use.

Grab your knife and chopping board, peel all the outer skin of the garlic off and chop the top and most of the rooted base. Do not cut the base off otherwise it'll fall apart.

Place the garlic bulb upside down in the oil to coat the top and then flip the bulb over. Make sure it is thoroughly coated in oil. Place this in the oven.

Cook around around 10 minutes. If your bulb is particularly large or small adjust the time by two minutes and just check it.

The garlic will be done when it has change colour slightly on the top but has not completely turned golden.

Carefully remove from the oven and allow it to cool completely before you do anything with it.

Once cool pour the oil from the tray or dish into your container and gently remove the garlic from the bulb and drop into the container.

If you like you can add different herbs to this, I used thyme but you can use rosemary or chilies; go wild!

Use this to make croutons, fry off some chicken, use as a dressing; you get the idea!
